2 More Others Arrested Over Murder in Anuradhapura

Another two suspects have been arrested over the brutal murder of an individual in Wanniyakulam, Anuradhapura on the 5th of July.

Police said two swords were also seized from their possession.

The two chief suspects involved in the brutal murder were arrested in Nochchiyagama early this morning.

Accordingly four suspects have been arrested over the incident.

Speaking at a media breifing this morning Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara noted both parties, the victim and the accused, have had numerous conflicts over a considerable period of time.

The Police Media Spokesman added cases have been filed against both the victim and the suspects before Court.

He noted five cases have been filed against the victim, one case relating to charges of sexual harassment and the other four cases relating to assault and injury.

The Police Media Spokesman said the victim is said to have struck the chief suspect with a sword and caused injuries in April.

The murder sparked wide condemnation on social media with video footage circulating of the family of the victim demanding justice.
